BIOGRAPHY

Real Name: Ype Wielinga & Tom Colenbrander

HISTORY

1997 Headfirst signed in September by Saskia Slegers of Djax Records, which was tipped by DJ DNA (Urban Dance Squad). They are a duo consisting of Ype Wielinga and Tom Colenbrander. Before that they, under the name Twowkidz (Three white kids on weed), a trio with Olaf Jansen (aka DJ Bash) as scratcher. Jansen, however, is too busy as Eboman-band member and stays out until Head First. Wielinga incidentally also played a while Eboman, as a replacement for JB Meyers (now Supersub). In late 1997 the first single: Dis. working on their debut album.

1998 Colenbrander gets overwrought, so Wielinga only needs to finish the album. The second Headfirst action is at the Noorderslag festival in January. At the last moment also show there that Colenbrander can not do it. Olaf Jansen jumps into action and is still successful. In March debut album To Da Bone. The second single is called Take Me Higher. Headfirst comes as support on tour with Junkie XL and they do in the summer numerous festival appearances at home and abroad.

1999 Tom Colenbrander has been replaced by Da Rule (keyboards and other electronics). a scratcher There is again the party: DJ Rockid who can call themselves Dutch scratch champion in 1998. There are signed by Djax licensing deals with record companies in America and Germany. In spring, the single Dance Fever in America. In the mid-year, single and album Dis To Da Bone in America, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Besides playing at many European festivals they do a promotional tour in America. They also play the SXSW festival in Texas. It is also working on the second album.

2000 While bigbeat craze is on its way, the album and the single Brightshineybeasts Why Not (the base a sample of the British avant-garde band This Heat). Tom Colenbrander joins League Of Gentlemen XO, the rap group including Rudeboy Urban Dance Squad.

2003 DJ Rockid wins in December, the final Turntablized, Amsterdam Cut 'n' Scratch competition which is organized annually by the foundation JOKE.

2004 The band is working on a new album. One of the tracks has been told thanks kickboxer Peter Aerts who uses the number Lumberjack before his matches. The track is therefore played include millions of Japanese homes during the broadcast of the Grand Prix of Tokyo.

2005 On January 5 put Headfirst an experimental album XdoubleMinus on their website so that any visitor can download it for free. On the plate, the dance formation explores the limits of the rock.
